Dry Pond Bed 50’x50'

Created during the University of Kansas Ecosphere Workshop, where natural systems were related to perception at The Perennial Agriculture Project at The Land Institute.

An improvisation, this work was made with my feet using only the horizon line (curvature of the dry pond bed) to guide the arcs I created, stopping either at the pond’s edge, or at the edge of an already created arc. This was repeated until I was too dehydrated to continue. It was a deadly hot day. In this way, my intentions were not guided by normal aesthetic drawing decisions, but rather a performance as response to the conditions and delineations already present in the land.
